How To Move The Time On Your iPhone Lock Screen

How To Move The Time On Your iPhone Lock Screen

You probably don’t think about your lock screen all that much. It’s just there when you need it, right? Well, yes and no. It’s a pretty important part of your phone because it’s what you see every time you use your device. It’s a place where you can make sure that your privacy is locked down tight, so we’ll show you how to move the time on your iPhone lock screen and why you might want to do so. You might also be interested in seeing our article on the hidden codes on the iOS lock screen and how to access them.

How To Move The Time On iPhone Lock Screen

  1. You need to enable the hidden setting called “Show Time on Lock Screen” in order to do this. To do this, go to Settings > Display & Brightness and tap on the “Date & Time” option.
  2. Now, you’ll see a toggle switch that says “Show Time on Lock Screen”. Make sure it is turned on.
  3. Once you have done that, return to your home screen and then swipe up from the bottom of your phone display to reveal your lock screen and unlock it as usual by sliding your finger across the Touch ID sensor or by using a passcode if you have one set up.
  4. At this point, you should be presented with the time at the top of your lock screen as well as some options for additional information such as weather conditions or news headlines at the bottom of your screen when you unlock it. However, if you have enabled “Show Time on Lock Screen” earlier then there will be no clock visible at all! If that is not what you want then just make sure that option is turned off before proceeding with the rest of these steps.
  5. Now we can move our clock around! Just swipe left or right along the bar running horizontally down either side of your lock screen until you find an empty space and tap on it with two fingers at once to drag it around or up and down along that bar as desired (you can also use your finger on the Touch ID sensor to drag it around).
  6. When you are done, make sure that option is turned off again in order to return to the default settings.

Why You Might Want To Change The Time On Your Lock Screen

  1. If your phone is in a case or a holster then you may not be able to access the time on your lock screen at all.
  2. If you want to keep the time visible but just don’t want to see it at the top of your lock screen then that’s fine! Just drag it down towards the bottom of the screen and you can use that space for something else such as an app icon or a quick message instead.
  3. If you want to customize your lock screen more, then by all means go ahead and do so! There are many themes available in the App Store that will change the look of your iPhone lock screen, including some with clocks (see our article on these). You can also install widgets such as Clock, Weather, or Newsstand widgets on your home screen and configure them in much the same way as we described above.
  4. You can also use your lock screen to show you the time of day when you are not in a location where there is a clock nearby. For example, if you are at home but want to know what time it is while you are away then just slide your finger down along the bar running across the bottom of your screen until you find an empty space and tap on it with two fingers at once to drag it down towards the bottom of the screen. Then when you return home later that day or in a different location, just swipe up from the bottom of your display and then swipe left or right along that vertical bar until you find an empty space and tap on it with two fingers again. This will bring up a small clock display (similar to what is shown below) that will appear at the top of your lock screen whenever you unlock your phone.
  5. Finally, if all else fails and none of these options work then simply go into Settings > General > Accessibility > Lockscreen and turn off “Show Time on Lock Screen” as we described above.

How To Disable Notifications On Lock Screen

  1. First, make sure that you are in Settings > Notifications.
  2. Next, tap on the three-dot menu icon in the upper right corner of the screen and select “Notification Center” from the list of options.
  3. When you have selected this option, you will be prompted to enter your passcode or password so that you can access Notification Center (if your phone is locked). If your phone is unlocked then simply swipe up from the bottom of your display and then swipe left or right along that vertical bar until you find an empty space and tap on it with two fingers again. This will open up a small pop-up window similar to what is shown below so that you can disable notifications by tapping on the “Toasts” or “Glances” options listed there.
  4. If you have already enabled notifications on your lock screen then this option will be unavailable to you at this point but don’t worry! You can still stop notifications from appearing on your lock screen by going into Settings > Notifications and turning off Show Previews for Notifications as we described above!
  5. Once that has been done, go back out to Notification Center and tap on “Notifications” from the list of options at the top of the screen. Then scroll down to find Show Previews for Notifications and toggle it off using one finger at a time until it disappears completely!

How To Change The Date And Time On iPhone Lock Screen

  1. To change the date and time on your iPhone lock screen, simply swipe up from the bottom of your display and then swipe left or right along that vertical bar until you find an empty space and tap on it with two fingers again. This will bring up a small pop-up window similar to what is shown below so that you can adjust the date and time for the lock screen by tapping on any of the options listed there.
  2. Once you have tapped on a particular option, your phone will try to automatically set the new time and date for you but if it fails then simply tap on “None” in order to manually change it yourself!
  3. If you want to see all of your options for changing date and time then simply hold down both fingers on your display (on either side) and drag them back towards each other in order to reveal the full range of options!

How To Disable Lock Screen Wallpaper

  1. First, make sure that you are in Settings > Lock Screen > Wallpaper > Live Images.
  2. Next, scroll down to find “Show when Locked” under “Background” or “Move background image” under “Move wallpaper” and toggle this option off using one finger at a time until it disappears completely! You can also drag this option up or down by holding down both fingers at once (on either side) as well so that you can choose between different options!
  3. Once you have done that, go back out to Settings > Lock Screen > Wallpaper and tap on “Live images” from the list of options at the top of the screen. Then scroll down to find Show when locked and choose one of the options listed there (such as “Show when unlocked”, “Always on” or “On-demand”) by tapping on it with two fingers at once.

  3. If you want to see all of your options for changing date and time then simply hold down both fingers on your display (on either side) and drag them back towards each other in order to reveal the full range of options!

Conclusion

It’s easy to take your lock screen for granted, but you should really take some time to get to know it. Your lock screen is your first line of defense against unwanted intruders. It can also be a helpful way to keep track of time and manage your schedule. With all these benefits, it’s surprising that many people don’t know how to move the time on their iPhone lock screen. Now that you know how to change the time, you can keep better track of the day, and you can make it harder for people to unlock your phone.
