This article is part of the Maintainable MVC Series. As mentioned in the previous post all views are strongly typed and every view has it’s own View Model. Although this results in quite a lot of classes the upside is maintainability in that it’s very straightforward. Every bit of data displayed in the view has a corresponding property in the View Model. As soon as it’s no longer needed in the view we remove the property as well. Of course, it sounds like it’s in opposition with the DRY principle (Don’... (more)

This article is part of the Maintainable MVC Series. The view system of ASP.NET MVC knows the followings types of views:Master viewsPage viewsPartial views The regular page view contains the specific html and presentation of data for each rendered page. For html shared by multiple pages – like navigation, header and footer – every page has a master page. Both of these types can include partial views for small parts, that can be reused from multiple views. For example page navigation for display of re... (more)

The RIA Services provides a mechanism of exposing data and business logic for consumption by the Rich Internet Applications like Silverlight. These are basically WCF services with some additional plumbing which makes it very easy to develop and consume service from Silverlight applications.Since these are basically WCF services they can be  consumed from other types of applications like ASP.NET/WinForms/WPF as well. Normally we follow the following steps to create a RIA Service quickly:Create a Silver... (more)

The most recent release of WPF Studio, 2009.2 build 515, added complete IME editing support to the SyntaxEditor control.  This has been a highly requested feature item so we’re pleased to introduce it. What is IME? The input method editor (IME) is a Window feature that allows users to enter characters and symbols not found on their input device.  For instance, it allows Western keyboards to enter Chinese, Japanese, etc. characters. Unfortunately WPF’s support of IME is spotty, and it only is supported ... (more)

Announcing: TinyIoC – An Easy to Use, Hassle Free, Inversion of Control ContainerIntroduction Whenever I start a new “pet” project I usually want to use IoC, but I don’t really want the hassle of taking a dependency on a container, or adding another binary to my project. Usually this leaves me using “poor man’s IoC”, whereby I define dependencies in my constructors, but I pass them in manually or construct them using constructor chaining. I’ve thought for some time that it would be useful to put toge... (more)
