So our geo-data experts show you how to read point and polygon objects from SQL Server and render them in MapPoint and how to write points and polygons back to SQL Server using Entity Framework 4.0 included with Visual Studio 2010. I use jQuery…a lot. It just makes JavaScript development much easier for me. Every so often, I may come across a site where I want to poke around and see what’s going on under the hood. In many cases, jQuery is being used so it’s simple to spark up Firebug and leverage jQuery to work with a document. While jQuery is very pervasive, there are still plenty of sites that don’t use it which forces me to go back to plain ‘ole JavaScript. There’s nothing wrong with that but I’ve gotten used to the nice, terse ... (more)

When writing applications for small, resource-constrained scenarios, it's not always easy to balance the demands of an attractive UI with the requirements of fast, functional design. Ideally, coding things the natural way will "just work" (the so-called pit of success) - and it usually does. But for those times when things need some extra "oomph", it's nice to have some options. I just learning Silverlight, or at least trying to, but I am having the hardest time trying to watch your videos. We 1.5 Mbits here at the office, but 40 people use it... so I am lucky to get 64Kbits for myself. Anyway, I do not know if it is a SilverLight streaming issue or not, but I cannot watch your videos because they will buffer for about 2 to 3 minutes, then play about 5 to 10 seconds of video, then buffer again, then rinse and repeat. I do not have this problem when watch Flash videos o... (more)

There are some great people with Silverlight and many of them are sharing a ton with the community through blogs, twitter, forums, videos, articles, books, training, and speaking engagements. Different folk tend like different mediums, so it is great that we have so many options to share information on Silverlight. Years ago I used to read books to find my information. Then as the web grew, I started reading a ton of articles. That grew into blog reading for me, and in the past few years watching... (more)
