According to the dump file, there are dozens of application domains for one asp.net web application. Troubleshooting: Asp.net starts new appdomain and unloads old one in various scenarios, for example: ·         Machine.Config, Web.Config or Global.asax are modified ·         The bin directory or its contents is modified ·         The number of re-compilations (aspx, ascx or asax) exceeds the limit specified by the (more)

Storing Files and Images in Access with ASP.NET

Storing Files and Images in Access with ASP.NET   Should you store files and images in the database or the filesystem in an ASP.NET application?  With SQL Server this is a dilemma, with both approaches having their pros and cons.  When it comes to Access, the decision is much easier to make.  Because an Access database is restricted to 2Gb, it makes more sense to store files in the file system.  However, sometimes, you may not have the choice. If you have to use the database, here's how. ... (more)

I heard on twitter the other day (Yes, I now tweet occasionally. How To Check Email Programmatically - SidePOP

Sending email has long been easy to do with the .NET Framework. There really hasn’t been a facility for checking email though. I recently had a need to be able to check email with and send a response with Bombali (a monitoring tool). I went searching for examples or a solution I could use. I found a few articles on this from a few years ago including the .NET POP3 MIME Client. I never found anything that was free and I never found anything that was easy to configure. Those who know me know I have a tinge... (more)

SSIS: How to handle updates « Mehroz’s Experiments

posted by mehrozmehroz 1259 days, 2 hours, 16 minutes ago

Handling updates in SQL Server Integration Services isn’t straight forward. If you have developed an ETL (Extract Transform Load) process for a Data Warehouse, then you may have faced a situation where you needed to update existing records. This could be the case when you are implementing Type 1 SCDs. The situation isn’t particular for a Data Warehouse ETL; in routine SSIS tasks, there can be situations when you want to insert a record if it does not exist, or else update the existing record. This articl... (more)
