“Edit WCF Configuration” is missing from Visual Studio 2008 context menu So this morning I format a laptop and install a fresh copy of Visual Studio 2008. I then try to edit the Web.Config using Edit WCF Configuration, but wait it’s missing! What the hell? So I look around in VS menus and find Tools -> WCF Service Configurator Editor. There have been plenty of complaints about INotifyPropertyChanged and how developers do not like using strings, etc. Last year several bloggers presented type-safe alternatives that used either reflection or lambda expressions. Many are quick to point out the poor performance (same for reflection). Unfortunately ‘poor performance’ says little about usefulness of an implementation. Today while I was doing code review I found myself writing a new generic function instead of one piece of code that was repeating itself in the developer’s code. When you write code sometimes you have to duplicate some piece of code. When it occurs, this is the best time to think of refactoring your functionality. (more)
