The expander control can be used in a lot of situations but the one proposed by default is quite "rigid". In this post we will discover how to animate it quite simply just via XAML ! The WPF engine lets us redefine the template of the controls and we'll just do that. (more)

When we call a service , we call it using the extension of the service. For example , if we are calling a WCF service in the service URL .SVC extension is visible. I made quick comparison of performance of four DI/IoC containers. I measured Unity, Castle Windsor, StructureMap and Ninject in two scenarios – resolving objects with empty constructor and resolving object with injected parameters in its constructor. Results are here. (more)

If you are going to be performing any action on a file, you want to make sure the file exists first. This is easier for files stored locally on your machine where you can simply do a File.Exists call and...call it a day.Things are a little bit more tricky when you try to check if a remote file such as something on a HTTP server exists though. Last week we released the first version of a new project template, VSPackage Builder, which enables rapid development of the command UI and tool window infrastructure of VS 2010 extensions. VSPackage Builder requires VS 2010 Pro or above, and can be installed directly from within VS using the Extension Manager, or indirectly from the Visual Studio Gallery.
