Creating solution file from a SSAS database

In many of my projects, I have heard my developers asking each other whether it is actually possible to get the solution file of a SSAS database and I have turned a deaf ear to almost all the cases in spite of knowing the answer. Now before you give me that flabbergasted look, let me try to justify my position. (more)

Having discuss indexes in some what details, this post will give some queries to get the index information of you databases. Ok, if you are a DBA, most of the time you need to manage some others databases. In my carrier, it is only few occasions where I was given task to design fresh database. All the other occasions, it is managing heritage databases, which you can’t avoid. (more)

Recently, I was asked to implement security on a set of sensitive measures, such as profit and all calculated measures on top of them as part of the cube development. It looked like a very straight requirement and I never thought I would have so many sleepless nights over it for the next 2 months. My very first way of thinking was using the default Microsoft cell security, where I would define a read-contingent policy for the sensitive measures. Sql server 2005/2008 support Unicode characters so you can present your data in any language so for example if your Database collation is (a Latin) and you want to store Arabic language words ,you need to define Unicode data type columns like(nchar,nvarchar,ntext) to stored your data properly and to avoid the question marks problem (???) except if your database collation is Arabic and in this case it does not need to define your columns as a Unicode type because you can use the type like(char,varchar,tex...
