Visual Studio 2010 “Insufficient Memory” on Copy/Paste I’ve been getting the following message a lot “Insufficient available memory to meet the expected demands of an operation at this time, possibly due to virtual address space fragmentation. Please try again later.” Apparently there’s a fix for that, you can get it here. (more)

Sell your stuff online with a fully functional eCommerce store in less than an hour! I’m taking the challenge of building a fully functional eCommerce store, and putting it online. It’ll take less than an hour to get the basic thing up and running, and then it’s up to you how much time you spend making it beautiful! I'm going to use WebMatrix from Microsoft to build it. WebMatrix is available at http://www.microsoft.com/web/webmatrix. Go ahead and download it if you don't have it already. It's free, not... (more)

Code Contracts (Part III): Evolution Code Contracts are continuously evolving. As an evidence, the team has recently released an extension for the Visual Studio editor. It allows you to see a code contract in a tooltip. However, this isn't exactly a direction of development that developers would like to see. The implementation of the Code Contracts library still isn't good enough. Many looking at the official forum are afraid to use contracts in production. And there are reasons. Now I'd like t... (more)

There is no doubt that Razor view engine is becoming very popular because Razor is speeding things up just a little bit more. With Razor, sometimes it may be need to see the Razor generated HTML during debugging. Sometimes there's a need to filter, change or move the Razor generated HTML. Sometimes you may need to set the different properties of your view in a separate file(however I strongly recommended that you should make your view as simple as possible). Sometimes you may a... Windows Phone 7 - Dynamically load XAML - Christoph's Blog

Sometimes it is necessary to load an element like a shape dynamically from an file, resource or directly from a string into the corresponding API classes. In Silverlight for Windows Phone 7 this can be done with the use of the XamlReader Class. This class can be found in the System.Windows.Markup namespace. With the use of this class it’s very easy to create in memory representations of XAML object you created in tools like expression blend. In my example I created an ellipsis with a gradient fill and ... (more)

I am getting a little tired of Expression Web 4 crashing on me. I'm not sure why I'm repeatedly encountering issues with the latest version of Expression Web, but I suspect -- given the frequency at which it is crashing -- it may have something to do with the TFS integration. Note that this is purely a guess on my part, but I find it hard to believe that the memory corruption bug I'm experiencing would not have been caught by one of the SDETs (a.k.a. Testers) on the Expression Web team. Perhaps the sou... (more)

Both ASP.NET MVC and the Razor View Engine have a language element called a helper.  Helpers In ASP.NET Web Pages are components that are stored as .cshtml files, and are meant to promote reusability by allowing other ASP.NET Web Pages to access them using the familiar object.method([args…]) syntax in views.  ASP.NET Web Pages has many built in helpers or you can choose to create your own.
