As this behavior is quite complex itself, we’ve decided to enable some scenarios to be available in... (more)

About a week ago in the Prism forum we got a question about an issue in the scenario displayed below. The Issue When the MainView was removed from the MainRegion, the RightOne and RightTwo regions were not removed from the RegionManager and the views were still being referenced by the region. We were able to reproduce this issue “successfully” both using scoped regions and without them so we started thinking on a possible fix for this. The Fix After trying different things out, we took Julian’s sugges... I showed how to migrate our Northwind Outlook client to .NET 4 and Office 2010. This Outlook Add-in displays order history information in an adjoining form region so sales associates can see that data immediately when communicating with customers. When we originally built this with Visual Studio 2008, we used a WPF user control to display the data so that we could better match the look and feel of Ou... (more)

Loading Bitmaps: DoEvents and the closure pattern

posted by mikeukmikeuk 1249 days, 13 hours, 51 minutes ago

Sometimes loading a bitmap causes an asynchronous download and you have to wait for it to complete before using it - but how best to wait? The standard solution is to use an event but this breaks what would otherwise be a sequential flow. Can reinventing DoEvents save the day or is the closure pattern a better bet? (more)

I heard on twitter the other day (Yes, I now tweet occasionally. If you'd like to waste literally seconds of your day you can follow me at joshtwist) that some folks at an Alt.Net UK event where giving P&P and Prism a rough ride. Specifically, they had some issues with the EventAggregator - citing Jeremy Miller's criticisms in this post Braindump on the Event Aggregator Pattern.I need to say up front that I really like the EventAggregator in Prism - it's on... This WPF behavior binds to a developer provided property that determines whether the app/dialog/region is in a busy state. When the property turns true, the background is gradually dimmed and a circular progress indicator animation is shown. User input can optionally be prohibited during the busy state. (more)
