Today, I have the privilege of keynoting TechEd Middle East in Dubai for the second year in a row. TechEd Middle East debuted last year, and this year the event has grown significantly. I love connecting with customers and hearing how they're using our products, and for me, TechEd is a great way to get that. I was working on setting up some new CUDA projects as I’m doing some spiking (prototyping for the not so agile crowd) work to figure out how best to use CUDA 4.0. I’ve turned it in to a quick tutorial on how to write a simple application that allows you to use both CUDA and the latest C++0x features in Visual Studio 2010. Because the current CUDA SDK requires projects to compile using the v90 toolset (Visual Studio 2008) the ... (more)

If you get one thing out of this post, I want it to be that you need to help spread the word on NuGet. If you are currently using Visual Studio 2010, you have a very powerful package manager at your fingertips. What is a package manager? Well, you know how when you want to use a third party library you have to go find the website, download all of the files, unzip them somewhere (don’t forget to right click and "unprotect" that zip file!), copy them into your project, add references to them, add some con... The Add Reference dialog is not a new one in Visual Studio 2010 Productivity Power Tools, but in this release they updated this dialog with Multi Targeting feature. One of the first things I always do after installing Visual Studio is to install SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). Visual Studio 2010 installs SQL Server 2008 Express on your machine but doesn’t include SSMS. Although you can use Visual Studio to create/connect/design databases, I like having SSMS around for advanced management. I recall SSMS for SQL Server 2005 was a simple install, unfortunately they threw the kitchen sink into the SSMS 2008 installer and I’m always confused at which buttons I need ... (more)
