Finishing this week sprint I decided to inspect some code using ReSharper 6.1 EAP and I started to give ReSharper a chance to help me find some of broken code. When I started I had some of the following inspection results. It is clearly showing that some properties wasn’t identified as used in a WPF binding. (more)

Coded UI tests : my TextBlock is not found, how to find it ?

published 557 days, 13 hours, 10 minutes ago posted by jmix90jmix90 560 days, 11 minutes ago

In the previous post, we have seen that setting the AutomationId can greatly help us when we want to perform some UI Tests. Todyay, I struggled with a problem which seems common after some digging on the net : the TextBlock control is not found and no assertion can be set on it. But it does not always occur and it is then difficult to debug this strange behavior. In this post we’ll see why this happen and how to solve this issue. (more)

In my previous post on Coded UI tests, we have seen how to make a control discoverable by a Microsoft UI Automation client including the Coded UI tests builder. This is a first step and the controls now need to be uniquely identified. This is done via the AutomationId property. In this post we’ll digg a little more in coded UI tests and discover the AutomationId property. (more)

With all the Windows 8/Metro/WinRT hype on the internet today, I decided it was time for a quick tip concerning the XAML escape sequence and the good old navigation framework present in Silverlight 4 and Silverlight 5. I only learned about the XAML escape sequence until recently and I can image that there quite a number of people out there that are still unfamiliar with it. (more)

First Look: Intersoft Ribbon UI for Silverlight, WPF and ASP.NET

Built from the ground up to create Office’s latest fluent user experiences, UXRibbon employs modern API and design that directly refers to the Office 2010 specifications – unlike many other ribbon solutions that simply “patch” their ribbons which were originally built with Office 2007 design. As the results, UXRibbon is more sophisticated in terms of design, yet fully customizable in terms of usage. (more)

Adding Error Bars to Visiblox Silverlight Charts | Colin Eberhardt's Adventures in .NET

Having spent a number of years studying Physics at university, I have had the importance of error bars well and truly drummed into me! Within physics, or any experimental science, there are always going to be errors in the measurements you make. The more repeat measurements you make, the more confident you can be in the mean value, however you cannot remove the errors altogether. Error bars provide a way to represent the spread of experimental observations graphically, without them, it is hard to have an... (more)

Paging Data from the Server with Silverlight | Colin Eberhardt's Adventures in .NET

This blog post provides an implementation of IPagedCollectionView which allows paging of data from the server. An IPagedDataSource is introduced that allows any paged data source to be plugged in, with the standard controls such as DataPager making it easy to create paging applications. With web-based applications, bandwidth constraints often mean that when querying large datasets, the results must be paged, i.e. split into discrete pages each containing a small number of results, with an API available ...
