February 28th is the target date for our EntitySpaces 2011 Beta. The beta will be available to customers only. The EntitySpaces Profiler is really shaping up nicely and already, in our own development, we are finding it to be an invaluable tool. EffiProz is an interesting database and it seems like they have made some very good strategic moves. For instance, Silverlight doesn’t support System.Data so EffiProz went and created their own class library that mimic's an ADO.NET provider since ADO.NET Providers aren’t supported under Silverlight. The same holds true for Windows Phone 7, EffiProz has a data provider for that as well. We’ve had our eye on EffiProz ever since the initial problems with VistaDB were made known. There are some major new features in EntitySpaces 2010.1.1025.0 and you should regenerate you classes when you upgrade. Our Trial Version has also been updated to our new production release. Our samples are now better organized, the Northwind database is included so you can attach and run the demo’s. There is also a new PDF in each sample application’s solution showing you the exact choices we made in the templates when generating the sample. (more)

The latest beta is available for download to our customers and it will soon become our Trial Version. This is a dramatic improvement over our previous beta. The kinks have been mostly ironed out. Lately I had Entity Framework 4.0 session where I introduced new features of Entity Framework. During session I found out with audience how Entity Framework 4.0 can generate optimized SQL. After session I also showed guys one horrible example about how awful SQL can be generated by Entity Framework. In this posting I will cover both examples. (more)
